With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Hugh Watson Kluttz, who entered eternal rest on January 16, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, great-grandfather, and spiritual father to many. Watson’s life was a testament to faith, kindness, and a deep love for family, friends, and also those who did not know God.
Born on May 25th, 1941 in Concord, NC, Watson grew up as the first son of Hugh Watson Sr. and Margaret Ritchie. He had a strong sense of community and a devotion to his faith that shaped every aspect of his life. He grew up in the Lutheran Church, which forged his faith in God and made him a man of great integrity, known for his gentle demeanor, warm smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Watson proudly served his community and loved sharing his wisdom, humor, and passion for growing the Kingdom of God in America and Germany. His life was marked by incredible strength, unwavering faith in God, and genuine care for others.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Erika, who was his constant companion and source of strength for 51 years; his children, Kelly, Karen, and Keith, Thomas, and Dennis. He loved and valued family and is also survived by his brothers, Glenn, David and Henry. He had many grandchildren who brought him endless joy and also continued in his passion for ministry. He also leaves behind countless friends and loved ones across the world who were touched by his kindness and grace.
Watson’s legacy is one of faith, love, and generosity. His absence will leave a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the countless lives he impacted.
Watson’s life will be celebrated on February 15th, 1:00pm, at Life Co Church in Chester Virginia. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor his memory and reflect on a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Life CO. Church in Watson’s honor.
