Ted loved to talk and tell people his philosophy on life and the art of being happy. It often had to do with crayons and reaching that inner child.
He loved to work with young people. He worked at St. Norbert College and University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. Ted was the kind of guy that did things because they felt right. He saw the need for a hockey coach when he was working at St. Norberts and he took the job and coached for many years. The amazing part was, he couldn’t ice skate, but that was Ted.
Ted had many favorite sayings: “only you can prevent forest fires”, “cool runnings”- which meant peace on your journey and my favorite as the youngest of the family was, “go play with the truck tires on Galena Ave”. You gotta love big brothers!
Ted had many friends in his church and in the world. He had a kind heart. He will be missed by many especially his dear friend Barbara in Florida. He was recently preceded in death by his dear friend Harry Capella. I am sure that they are causing all sorts of havoc again together. Ted was also preceded in death by his parents, his brother Peter Balser and his sister Jane Balser Vohs. Ted is survived by his siblings, Susan Balser Zell of Virginia Beach, VA, Thomas Balser of Dixon, IL and Sarah Balser of Lakeville, MN and many extended family members.
Our lives are richer for having Ted in them. We will all carry a little bit of him with us as we proceed on our journey.
