Evelyn Wagstaff, age 84, of Hampton, VA, and formerly of Woonsocket, RI, passed away on July 15, 2026. Born in Rhode Island to Wilfred and Mabel Cloutier, Evelyn was a woman of strong integrity, simplicity, and self-reliance. She took great pride in living an honest life and staying informed on current affairs and news.
Though a private individual, Evelyn had a generous heart and was always ready to help a friend in need. She had a passion for music, which brought endless smiles to her face, often reminding those around her that "there’s a song for that." She lived simply, loved deeply in her own quiet way, and leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength.
In her spirit, and with her iconic goodbye saying and final word of advice to us all: "Don't take any wooden nickels."
