Born on July 31, 1936, in Oakland, California, to Maurice and Henrietta Dezzani, David grew up in Placerville, working at his family’s motor inn and roller rink. Here he developed his love of family, adventure and sports, earning a football scholarship to Fresno State. After hurting his knee, at the suggestion of his mother, David joined the Army, serving in Germany.
After his service, he graduated from University of California, Berkeley and earned a law degree from UC Berkeley School of Law. Drawn to the islands of Hawaii, David began a distinguished legal career in Honolulu with Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel, where he spent his entire career and became one of Hawaii's most respected trial attorneys. He served as the Director of the Hawaii Bar Association, was a member of ABOTA, and was very active in Rotary.
David was known for his energy, intellect, and ethics. In his spare time, he loved sailing, skiing, reading and travelling the world. Above all else, he cherished his family, who were the center of his world.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rochelle (Shelly); his sons, Scott, John, Michael, and Douglas; and his grandchildren, Torin, Cason, Hannah, Samuel, Joseph, Seren, Mabli, Nant, and Heidi. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald "Skipper" Dezzani and Peter Dezzani, and his grandson Ethan.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Placerville, California, on August 1, 2026. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well lived and a man deeply loved.
