Dante Calcagni

Dante Calcagni, 92 was born in Rome, Italy on March 26, 1934. On July 4, 2026 he joined his beloved wife, Marian Christ to continue their 63-year love story in heaven. He is survived by his cherished daughters, Joanna Calcagni Kawa (Mark), MariDan Calcagni-Stengel (Edward) and Crista Calcagni; beloved grandchildren, Daniella, Jack, Crisanna and Olivia; twin brother, Antonio Calcagni, sister-in-law Anne, nephews and niece, Michael, Anthony, Mark, Paul & Stephanie. Also held dear, was his sister Civita DiRuzza Gigliofiorito, and sister-in-law, Maria Sorge DiRuzza; and a host of extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by siblings Angelo DiRuzza; and Alfonso, Concetta (Arnone) and Teresa (Filicetti) Calcagni. Dante’s parents were Bernardo DiRuzza and Giacinta Mancone in Roccasecca/ Castrocielo; and Giovanni Battista Calcagni and Maria Rollini in Rome.

Dante will be remembered for his love of family, gentle soul, adventurous spirit, ingenuity, humor and generosity. He is deeply missed and forever loved.

A Catholic Mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday July 25, 2026 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Norfolk with reception to follow. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy are requested to be shared in person or at www.neptunecremationofvirginia.com.
