Clara Pauline Rowland

Clara Pauline "Polly" Rowland, age 89, of Norfolk, Virginia passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023. She was born on May 30, 1933, in Lubbock, Texas to the late Carrie Maud Johnson and Hershel Lee Ward. She spent many years in Amarillo, Galveston, and Mansfield, Texas, as well as Norfolk, Virginia.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Beverly McClish Prevette and Elizabeth McClish Ray; ten stepchildren, Kevin McClish, Joey Wimberly, Johnny Wimberly, Karen Wimberly, Keith Wimberly, Curtis Rowland, James Rowland, Michele Rowland, Brett Rowland and Delores Bevers; 30 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William King Rowland, Jr., her daughters Joan Citorelli Ward and Cheri Citorelli Garcia, as well as her sister, Cecil Josephine “Jo” Ward, and brother, Carl Cletis (Boy Kid) Bowles, Jr.

Polly worked in credit and collections before retiring. She loved cowboy poetry, Willie Nelson, quilting, dominoes, gardening, adventures, Dallas Cowboy football and Jeopardy. Polly attended First Baptist Church of Norfolk.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 29th, 2023. All friends and family are requested to play Willie Nelson in honor of Polly’s 90th birthday, while celebrating with your respective families.
