Christy was a woman of strong work ethic, varied talents, and creative spirit. Over the years, she contributed her skills to her community in many ways—working as a pipefitter at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, nourishing local students as a cafeteria worker for Virginia Beach City Public Schools, and greeting customers with a friendly smile as a cashier at The Home Depot.
Outside of work, Christy had a passion for crafting and a deeply compassionate heart for animals. She also held a special place in her heart for Eeyore, whose gentle character brought her lifelong joy and smiles.
Christy is survived by her devoted husband, James L. Hinkley; her daughter, Shannon L. Stone; her son, James L. Hinkley II; her beloved grandchildren, Brianna Sturdevant, Kimberly Hinkley, Robert Vansikle, Emma Hinkley, Ryder Hinkley, and Cora Hinkley; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Elissabetta Sturdevant.
In accordance with her wishes, no formal memorial or funeral services will be held.
She will be remembered fondly for her creativity, dedication to her family, and the warmth she brought to those around her.
