Charles H. "Buddy" Blake Jr.

We are sad to announce the passing of Charles H. “Buddy” Blake Jr., (80), of Virginia Beach, VA. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2023, with his sister, Kay, and daughter, Stephanie, by his side.

Charles H. Blake, fondly known as “Buddy”, was born to Edna and Charles H. Blake Sr. on July 3, 1942, in Norfolk, VA. Buddy was a man of many titles from salesman to business owner. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had many hobbies such as woodworking, building birdhouses, planters, etc. Aside from his love for creating and building just about everything, he really enjoyed sailing an 18’ Hobie Cat in his younger years with the family. He and his daughter, Stephanie, also enjoyed racing. They loved being on the open water and the thrill of the competition.

Buddy is survived by his daughters Shelley Kocsis and Stephanie Asher, his grandsons Trent Kocsis and Christian Asher, his sister Kay Ames Hunt, his niece and nephew Melissa Murphy and Gregory Ames, and his partner of 20+ years Mary Padgett and her sons Johnny and Billy Padgett.

Buddy’s family will host a “Celebration of Life” on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. The celebration will be held at The River, formally known as “The Indian River Inn” at 6220 Indian River Rd. Suite F Virginia Beach, VA 23464. The business will be closed to the public during our celebration.
