Bernard John Fiske Jr.

Bernard J. "Jack" Fiske passed away peacefully on October 18th, 2023, at the age of 85. A proud longtime resident of Virginia Beach, Jack shared many of those years with his beloved wife, Rita Fiske, who preceded him in death in March of 2021. Before settling in Virginia Beach, Jack lived in Norfolk, VA for the better part of his adult life, up until the mid-1990s.

Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Jack honorably served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1978. He retired with distinction as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Jack's commitment to service continued into civilian life, where he dedicated another two decades as a Systems Analyst with NAVMASSO. His profound sense of duty to the Navy was mirrored in his personal life, particularly evident when he lovingly embraced two additional children upon marrying Rita, adding to his own two.

In addition to Rita, Jack was predeceased by his son, Michael Timothy Fiske; daughter, Cynthia Dawn King; granddaughter, Brandy Ann Fiske; parents, Bernard J. Fiske Sr. and Margaret M. Fiske; and brother, James P. Fiske. His legacy lives on through his children: Kathy Baksa (David Baksa) and Donny King (Heather McCarthy). Jack is also survived by his brother, Terrance E. Fiske; sister, Judith Pianka; and grandson, Alexander Vawter.

A memorial service honoring Jack's life will be held Friday November 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
