OBITUARY

Arthur Castorina

May 2, 1937 – June 23, 2026
Obituary of Arthur Castorina
Arthur “Casey” Castorina, 89, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, after a courageous illness.

Born on May 2, 1937, in the Manhattan Borough of New York City, Casey was the only child of Arthur “Artie” Joseph Castorina and Amalia “Emily” Justine Ippolito Castorina. He was deeply proud of his Sicilian heritage and the Castorina family name.

Casey’s lifelong passion for mechanics began as a teenager working alongside his father in the family gas station after the family settled in Norfolk, Virginia. Those early experiences led to a distinguished career spanning more than five decades.

A proud Vietnam Era veteran, Casey served in the United States Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic assigned to the 831st Tactical Fighter Wing, where he specialized in maintaining fighter aircraft. Following his military service, his career took him around the world, including many years in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he advanced from maintaining airport emergency equipment to overseeing maintenance operations for airport equipment throughout the kingdom. Upon returning to the United States, he continued his career with Hertz Heavy Equipment and Pepsi-Cola until retirement following a career-ending injury.

An avid outdoorsman, Casey enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and traveling. He especially cherished his Sicilian heritage and fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting his family’s ancestral home in Catania, Sicily.

Casey was the proud father of Todd, Joseph, Sean, Michelle, and Sydney, and was preceded in death by his infant son, Anthony.

He was a loving grandfather to Krysta, Baylee, Deborah, Kaitlynn, and Colin, and a cherished great-grandfather to Payton, Rylee, and Joshua.

His family finds great comfort in knowing that during the final chapter of his life, Casey was lovingly cared for by his daughter Michelle, her husband Jay, and his granddaughter Kaitlynn, where he was surrounded with dignity, compassion, and unwavering love.

In accordance with his wishes, Casey will be cremated. Interment with military honors will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate team at Interim Hospice, especially Nurse Eric, whose kindness, professionalism, and exceptional care brought comfort, dignity, and peace to Casey during his final days and to his care team at the Hampton Veterans Administration Medical Care for the exceptional care provided the final years of his life.

Casey will be remembered for his faithful service to his country, his remarkable mechanical ability, his adventurous spirit, and the love he held for his family and cherished friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him as Art, Casey, Dad, grandpa, Pops, Uncle or friend. Rest well
