W.L. (Dub) Pomroy, 84, of Bisbee, Arizona, sadly passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 18, 2023. Born in Deport, Texas, on August 27, 1938, to Hubert and Letha Pomroy. The family moved to Bisbee, Arizona when he was two.
After graduating from Bisbee High School in 1956, he went to work for Phelps Dodge Corporation as a truck driver in the Lavender Pit. He married Carolyn (Coe) on Aril 15, 1961. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He worked as a Corrections Officer with the Arizona Department of Corrections until he retired in 2000. He loved coaching little league baseball, camping, fishing, playing pool, and telling stories and jokes. He never failed to bring a smile to anyone’s face. What he loved most was spending time with his family and making people laugh.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, children Jamie Hartwig (Teri), Alan (Terri), Dennis (Michael), Lisa (Jose Munoz), and Todd. Sisters, Melba, Betty, Dianna, Sandy and Judy. 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles, and sister Neva.
Dub will be missed tremendously by all who knew him.
