He was born on May 30, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio. Steve is survived by his loving wife, Paula Caylor, and their children: Tami & Bobby Olson, Tracy & Joel Matlock, Kylor & Tomoka Hall, and Nathan Hall. He was also a cherished grandfather to Brice & Michelle Olson, Megan Olson, Reed Olson, Bryanna Olson, Karen Matlock, Madeline Matlock, Sophie Matlock, and Lydia Hall. Steve is also survived by his nephew, Jeremiah & Serena Hall, and niece Sarah Hall.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Lowell E. Hall, his mother, Janet Cummins Aylesworth, his brother, Gary E. Hall, and his sister, Kathleen O'Connell.
In 1966, Steve graduated from Naperville Community High School. He then went on to serve in the Army as a 1st Class Gunner M-60 in the 1st Calvary Division in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. Steve received several military honors for his service, including a Purple Heart, Silver Service Star, and three Bronze Service Stars.
After his military service, Steve embarked on a successful career. In 1975, he started Hall's Custom Painting. He & his wife then relocated to Montana and then Idaho, where he started another painting company and built a custom family home on their farm. At the age of 60, Steve decided to further his education and obtained an associate degree in drafting. He also later worked as a construction manager in Flagstaff, AZ.
Steve discovered Hope Community Church where he enjoyed Christian fellowship and study. He served as a deacon for four years and the president of the council for another two years. Later, after Steve moved to Tucson in 2022 to be closer to his family, he began attending The Bridge Christian Church. His faith was an integral part of his life and brought him comfort and strength.
Outside of work, Steve enjoyed various hobbies. He had a passion for camping, fishing, NFL football, coin collecting and Indian culture. Every summer, Steve and his brother Gary would gather with their families at Boulder Creek Campground, where they would spend weeks panning for gold at Gary's gold claim, fishing, swimming, hiking, eating wild huckleberries & thimble berries and exploring the ghost town of Boulder City.
A memorial service to celebrate Steve's life will be held on September 17, 2023 at 3:00pm, at Desert Hope Lutheran Church located at 7474 E. Speedway in Tucson, Arizona. Contributions in his memory can be made to the Gospel Rescue Mission.
