Richard W McCune died in Tucson on Sunday, August 18th, 2019. He is survived by wife Mary Darling, daughters Shirley McCune, Susan Vergano, son Steven McCune, and his grandchildren, Maranda, Brendan, and Ryan.
Dick was born and raised in Southern California, served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, and spent many years with Marriott Intl in senior Leadership roles both here in the USA and throughout Asia. He sailed his beloved boat throughout the east coast, Caribbean, through the Panam Canal, to San Francisco. Later he sailed the South Pacific with winter in New Zealand before heading to Bali. He co-founded the Royal Bali Yacht Club as well as co -resurrected the Darwin - Ambon Yacht rally during his time managing the Bali Marina. He returned to the US to his home in Nogales where he worked with local growers and farmers supporting the Nogales Mercado. With his love for the environment and passion for conservation, he spent time on the board of the Patagonia Area Resource alliance before retiring as a faithful local Democratic Party volunteer encouraging local young adults to be involved in their community. He will be missed by many and lived by the motto, 'Ya Makes Your Choices'.
