Linda, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and great aunt, is survived by her son Dr. F. Thane DeWeese (Sandra) of Paducah KY, daughter Dana Kaczmarski (Ron) of Lake Villa, IL, grandchildren Noah, Sarah, Jesse, and Luke DeWeese, and Tyler and Nathan Kaczmarski, sister Janice Kincaid of Ulysses KS, and nephew Chris Kincaid (Gay) of Pawhuska OK, and niece Heather McCarthy (Daniel) of Monroe LA.
After graduating valedictorian from Nelagoney High School, in Nelagoney, Oklahoma, in 1958, Linda attended the University of Oklahoma and received a Certificate in Secretarial Science. She began her career as a Legal Secretary at Cities Service Gas Company in Oklahoma City. After moving to St. Louis with her family, she went on to open a very successful gift boutique selling Crabtree & Evelyn bath products when they first came to the U.S. Linda did more business per square foot in her 160 sq. ft. store than most jewelry stores. Linda also acquired her Real Estate license and sold homes in St. Louis.
Linda would later move to Tucson for health reasons where she remained until her death. Linda traveled extensively visiting Australia, China, Germany, London, and France, just to name a few. She sailed on the Queen Elizabeth II’s final transatlantic voyage and flew on the Concorde before it was decommissioned. Linda truly lived life to the fullest.
She had the same passion when it came to her family. Her generosity and love knew no bounds. With a quick wit and a sharp mind, she kept everyone on their toes.
In 2010, the mayor of Tucson awarded Linda with the “Outstanding Volunteer Award” for her commitment to improving the literacy skills of today’s youth by reading to underprivileged children in her community as an Experience Corps member.
Linda was a truly great woman whose impact will be forever felt by her family and friends, that loved her dearly. She was a very generous woman whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of her loved ones.
A private celebration of Linda’s life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to Easterseals at Easterseals.com, where Linda was a longtime volunteer.
