Leland J. A. Johnson passed away on August 17, 2017. He was born in 1931 and grew up in his beloved North Dakota. After graduating from the University of North Dakota, he embarked on a long career of 35 years as a teacher and educator. He spent most of those years in Philadelphia, and after retiring, settled in Green Valley, where he's lived for a number of years. Along the way, Lee served in the U.S. Army. Lee traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Soviet Union, Africa and China. He even visited Timbuktu and he rode the Orient express. Lee loved to cook, entertain and have parties. His parties were considered major events. He loved animals and throughout the years contributed to many animal rescue organizations. Lee pursued and enjoyed extensive study of family genealogy. He was a prolific writer and a published author. He also studied the works of various philosophers and could quote many of the masters. Lee is survived by his sister Lorraine Hell; brother, Larry Johnson; nephews, David Hell, Ron Hell, Jay Johnson and Larry Wayne Johnson; and nieces Kathy Hefner and Cindy Johnson Anderson; many great nieces and great nephews; and many, many friends.
