JoEllen Spaid Wraspir, 69, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on January 16, 2017. JoEllen is preceded in death by her husband Al Wraspir. She was born in Grants Pass, Oregon on November 5, 1947. She graduated from Azusa High School and continued her education, while working for the Boeing Company, eventually earning her Bachelor’s Degree. She was a retired manager from Boeing, working in their Logistics organization. JoEllen married Alfred Wraspir on September 7, 1981 and they were married for thirty-one years. She was an avid reader, quilter, and traveler. She lived in many places, including California, New Jersey, New Mexico, Montana, Washington, Saudi Arabia and, ultimately, Tucson. She took many trips with her husband and family. The list of countries she visited is extensive: England, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Spain, France, Greece, the Caribbean, South America, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Australia and New Zealand, to name a few. JoEllen is survived by brother, Johnny Spaid: sister, Jean Beaman; daughters, Melanie Garrison, Jennifer Wraspir and Billie Grahek; stepsons, Michael and Jerry Wraspir; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was part of a large family, in which one could lose count of all the relatives. Her gift was being the family communicator. She could tell you what was going on with just about everyone in the family. Her other gift was “adopting” people into her life. If you knew JoEllen, chances were high you were “in her family.” She truly knew no strangers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Southern Arizona Humane Society: http://www.hssaz.org/honor. A Celebration of Life will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at the Ball Room at the Voyager RV Resort, 8701 South Kolb Road, in Tucson. A second Celebration will be held in Seattle, at a later date.
