Herbert Jonathan Nitz passed away on Easter, April 9, 2023. He was the son of Herbert A. Nitz and Sue (Turley) Nitz. He was a devoted son, loving brother and generous kind soul to (almost) everyone. He had a brilliant mind, an incredible memory and a wicked sense of humor. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas and was a life long Kansas City Chiefs fan. He grew up in Wheaton, Illinois. He attended Knox College and graduated with an accounting degree from North Central College He managed the operations of J&C Central, Inc. when he lived in Wheaton, Illinois. He was passionate about driving, music, camping, fishing, baseball and football. He excelled at chess, backgammon and all card games. When his mobility limited him to life in a wheelchair, he moved to Tucson. He hosted the famous Tucson Annual for reconnecting with his beloved poker friends. He loved the desert animals and weather. He will be deeply missed by his mother, Frances Sue Nitz, sister, Janci Sue (Nitz) Matykiewicz, brother-in-law Andrew Paul Matykiewicz, his nephew Charles Edward Matykiewicz, his niece Emily Sue (Matykiewicz) Hutcheson and her family, and all his devoted friends.
