Gerald “Jerry” Arnold Langemeier passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the age of 83. He was born in Scribner, Nebraska on September 24, 1934, a son of Arnold and Leona Langemeier. The oldest of four boys and one girl, he grew up as a skilled farm boy helping his father and participating in local 4H activities. He won many prizes for outstanding livestock, most notably he won 12th place out of thousands of entries. He graduated from Mead High School in Mead, Nebraska. Jerry attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, pledged Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, majored in Agricultural Economics and minored in Horticulture. After graduating UNL, he married Mary Lee Ludi of Wahoo, Nebraska June 17, 1956. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed at Bad Kreuznach, Germany, as a part of the Finance Corps. Jerry and Mary were able to travel Europe and enjoy seeing the sights, during his tour of duty in Germany. After his military service, Jerry worked as a salesman for Harvestore, selling silos, then Nutrena Feeds Division of Cargill in Nebraska, Iowa and Texas. Before retiring, as a Realtor in Arizona, he established O’Neill Realty in Nebraska in 1975, where he worked as a real estate broker. After retirement, Jerry went to work for Wal-Mart as a greeter, but soon found his way into sales in the garden department. Jerry and wife, Mary, joined St. Mark’s Methodist Church, when they moved to Tucson, in 1997, and were active members of the congregation ever since. Jerry was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner for over sixty years. Jerry was proceed in death by his two younger brothers, Lloyd and James. He is survived by a long line of UNL alumni, include wife, Mary; daughters, Karla, Karen, Krista and their husbands; sister, Betty Anderson; brother, Ralph and Joyce Langemeier; and eleven grandchildren.
