He was born on January 7, 1933 in Rochester, Minnesota, a son of George Roy and Clarissa Wilamina (Tattersfield) Lucas. They preceded him in death.
After serving four years in the Air Force, George settled in Portland, Oregon, where he raised his family. For over thirty years, George served his community as a firefighter, inspector, investigator and a fire safety teacher. After retiring from the fire department, he went to work at Precision Cast Parts and then drove a school bus for special needs students in the Woodburn area.
In 2011, George and his wife, Freida, retired to Yuma. They have created close friendships with their fabulous and supportive neighbors in the Arroyo de Fortuna community.
George is survived by his loving wife, of fifty-three years, Freida Lucas; their children, Georgia, Vince (Debbi), Clarissa (Leland), Elaine (Lon), Bill (Diane), Pam (Dave) and Corey (Laura); sixteen grandchildren, Janat, Jamila, Preston, Ryan, Heather, Jason, Rebekah, Ashlee, Luke, Alex, Courtney, Justin, Taylor, David, Gabriel and Rocky; twelve beautiful great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jim, John, Bill and Dan; and his sister, Barbara Klein.
