Cantrell, Beverly A., age 86, of Green Valley, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on January 11, 2025. Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, she graduated from Hillsboro High School where she made many life-long friends, and she attended Vanderbilt University where she met Dick Cantrell on a blind date. He became the love of her life, beloved husband and best friend for 67 years, until he passed away on July 16, 2021.
Being active in church was a central part of Beverly’s life. She taught kindergarten for many years at Woodmont Baptist Church, her home church. Later, she worked as the secretary for the Youth/Children Ministers of Woodmont, where Dick and Beverly’s Sunday School class were a source of friendship and spiritual support. Years later, she served as the administrative assistant to the pastor at Forrest Hills Baptist Church, until she and Dick moved to Arizona to retire, relocating close to their daughter Dawn and their grandson Hunter.
Beverly had many artistic talents. She created award-winning pieces in ceramics, teaching her skills in church classes. She also enjoyed gardening, needlework, glass art, flower arranging and reading. In Arizona, Beverly was member of her church’s flower committee. She always put family first and was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Allen and Roberta Agee, and her loving husband Dick Cantrell. She will be greatly missed by her loving daughters Cathy and Dawn, grandson Hunter, brother Kenneth Agee (Dee), nieces Molly and Kendall, Lisa and Leslie, and close cousin Celia (Mort).
At her request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial may consider a donation in Beverly’s name to their charity of choice.
