

Betty Jean Zinn, passed away after a struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall “Woody” Haywood in 2023. Betty was the middle child of 5 siblings born to Florence and Shirley Zinn. She is survived by daughter, Kym Gavitt of Albrightsville Pennsylvania and granddaughters Samantha and Madison Imber, sisters Bonnie Wallace (husband Arthur Wallace) of Grand Rapids Michigan, Mary Jane Humm of North Carolina, Susan Zinn and long time family friend Linda Starbuck of Oro Valley Arizona, brother John Zinn of Covington Kentucky and numerous nephews and nieces.
Betty attended South High school in Grand Rapids, she graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from Grand Rapids Junior College, she was working towards an eventual BA at Michigan State, but she graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science General Studies.
Betty worked in the Employee and Public Relations Dept. at Texaco, Inc. in Chicago, ILL., she was the Administrative Assistant to the President of Spector Industries, Bensenville, ILL., she was promoted to Supervisor Employee Services at Spector. She ended her working career at Frontier Soups in marketing and Sales, Chicago, ILL.
She was very outgoing and well liked by those that she encountered. She loved to talk to people and gather with her friends and family. She had a great love for dogs, playing golf, traveling and tending to her many plants. She will be greatly missed.
Betty will be laid to rest at Rosedale Memorial Park in Grand Rapids Michigan.
