Bernice Agnes Matta

Bernice A. (Dupuis) Matta, beloved wife of the late George Matta, Sr., passed away peacefully on May 22, 2017. Bernice was born in Attleboro, MA on September 21, 1924, a daughter of Christina and Joseph Dupuis. Most of her life was spent in Rhode Island. Her last five years were spent in Oro Valley Arizona, in the climate she so loved. Bernice enjoyed traveling, dinning and, most of all, her family! Bernice served in the United States Navy during World War II, stationed in Washington, D.C. She is survived by daughters, Sue (Gardner) Caswell of Swansea, MA and Gail (James) Hansen of Anchorage, Alaska; granddaughters, Rebecca Peschong, Jessica Wright and Jennifer Matta; grandsons, Derek Hansen and Michael Matta.; great grandchildren, Timothy Machado, Cameron, Mitchell, Alexandra and Christina Wright and Ainsley Peschong; sisters, Josephine McCauley and Anne Durandette; and brothers, Ernest and Frank Dupuis. Bernice was preceded in death by son, George Matta, Jr., and sisters, Mary Dupuis and Christina Brindle. Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be a private Memorial Service.
