Arlene S. Pullara, an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother at the age of 84 of Tucson, Arizona passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Copper Canyon Alzheimer’s Special Care Center, Tucson.
Arlene was born on February 11, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York to Kalman and Sophie Sklar. She has two brothers, Dr. Martin Sklar, who preceded her in death and Dr. Richard Sklar who lives in California.
Arlene graduated college from Binghamton University, New York with a degree in Social Work. Arlene took her passion of always helping people and put it to work as a social worker for American Red Cross. In 1959 she moved to Madison, Wisconsin and met the love of her life, Leonard Pullara. Arlene took her passion in the direction of becoming a teacher for the Madison Public Schools and taught 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades for over 32 years. She touched many young lives and made a strong and loving impression on many to give back to their family and community.
In 1992, Arlene and her beloved husband Leonard, retired to Sun City in Tucson and built their dream retirement home. Together they made many friends, joined many clubs and traveled to Fiji, Tahiti, Bermuda, and Hawaii.
Arlene is survived by her loving husband, of fifty-six years, Leonard Pullara; their daughter Valerie D. Pullara, two grandchildren, Erica A. Schalk (Joseph), and Taylor J. Adams and one amazing great-grandchild, Caleb T. Wood.
Arlene loved life, family, and especially dogs. Her strength, love, and compassion will live on through her family, and others who she touched with such grace and beauty. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you make a donation to Arizona Greyhound Rescue on her behalf.
