Barbara Ann Risher

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Barbara Ann Risher, on the 8th of June 2026, at the age of 90. Barbara was born in Montpelier, Idaho, daughter of Winifred Smuin and Frank Smuin. She is survived by her three children, Brian Risher, Helena Russell, Serena Risher, and son-in-law, Shane Russell, all who are grateful to have spent the last moments with her by her side.

Barbara was known for her welcoming heart, compassion, and radiant smile. She was a loving, loyal woman, a true nurturer and advocate. She cared deeply for her family and friends and was always a source of support and strength to anyone needing unconditional love through trying times.

She had a deep passion for literature, the written word, and stories of the past. Professionally, she worked tirelessly as an elementary school teacher with the Poway Unified School District and educated and inspired hundreds of children over the years.

Upon retirement, Barbara dedicated her time to serving children as a volunteer at the Morning Creek Elementary School library.

Barbara spent her final years with family immersed in books, story writing, sharing laughter with friends, and listening to music, including her favorite song, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.

We are so blessed to have known her, to have been nurtured by her, and to have been raised by her. She'll be deeply missed by her family and friends.
