William Darren Sanders II of Oak Park, California, passed away on January 5, 2025 at the age of fifty-five. William (aka Billy, Bill) was born on March 17, 1969 in the city of Lynwood. William is survived by his wife, Laura Sanders. They were married on November 22, 2003 and were partners in life for twenty-seven years. William is also survived by his beloved children: son Justin (28), who serves in the Navy; daughter Serena (18), a full-time college student at California Lutheran University; as well as his parents, William and Georgie Sanders.
Billy attended Ribet Academy and graduated in 1987. He served in the Navy shortly after graduation and then worked in sales until he became an entrepreneur in 2005. Along with his wife, he opened a pressure washing business, Sanders Hydro Solutions, which operated until his cancer diagnosis in March 2023. He was a devout Christian and member of Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village.
Billy was known for his natural athleticism and participated in many sports. As a boy, he played baseball. At Glendale High School, he was a member of the water polo team. He enjoyed swimming, basketball, skateboarding, and snowboarding. On occasion, he would practice soccer with his daughter and coached her softball team. Billy and his son enjoyed hitting golf balls together. Billy had a strong connection to the ocean and loved surfing most of all.
Billy was a welcoming individual who wore his heart on his sleeve and lived life on his own terms. He was empathetic, forgiving, and accepting toward all those he met. Due to his fun-loving, social nature and his genuine concern for the well-being of others, he naturally attracted many people to him. Billy also had a special place in his heart for animals and loved creatures big and small, especially the family cats. Billy was extremely loyal and protective of his friends and family, including his children, who were his world. Billy was an optimistic dreamer and always found happiness, even in difficult times. He had a big-kid persona that was unique and endearing. His days were filled with laughter, and he spread his joy to all those around him.
Prior to his passing, Billy had a near-death experience and saw a figure standing in an ocean of opaque pink and blue, beckoning him to follow. We believe that he entered that ocean and are comforted by our faith that he is now home with God.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Calvary Community Church on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Location: 5495 Via Rocas, Westlake Village, CA. Following the service, the Sanders and Wilson families will be hosting a Celebration of Life gathering at Cisco’s Mexican Restaurant. Location: 1712 E. Avenida De Los Arboles, Thousand Oaks, CA.
