Sylvia Singman of Winnetka, CA passed away on January 19th, 2026 at the age of 100. She was born on February 23rd, 1925 in New York where she lived up until the age of eight, when her family moved to Los Angeles, California.
On a beautiful, sunny at Will Rodgers beach in Santa Monica she met the love of her life, Calvin and married him on November 13th, 1943. During WWII she was an original Rosie the Riveter, lending her hands and beautiful smile to the war effort.
In later years, she worked as an admistrative secretary to a Rabbi. And add as it may seem, she never implanted any Jewish guilt upon her family.
Her greatest accomplishment was instilling a positive attitude and self-confidence in her two daughters, Arlie and Janie.
Sylvia lived a long, happy life, which she attributed to a martini in the evening, a good cup of coffee in the morning and a loving family. She was a smart, witty woman who lit up a room with her stories. She was an amazing mother, a wonderful wife, and the best grandmother anyone could ask for.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin and two wonderful son-in-laws, Rick Emaus and Dutch Holland.
She is survived by her daughters, Arlie Holland and Janie Emaus. As well as three grandchildren: Anna Bolognese, Michael Holland and Jessie Ornstein. And six great grandchildren: Dylan, Joey, Enzo, Cole, Eden and Isaac.
The family would like to thank her amazing caregivers, Juliet Lindayan and Alex Lomby, for the extradinary care and compassion they gave her during the sunset years of her life.
