Sharon Moffie Aaronson, age 74, passed away peacefully at home in West Hills, CA on September 23, 2024, with her devoted husband, Alan, by her side. Born in Revere, MA. she was the daughter of Eli and Irene (Weiss) Moffie, Of Blessed Memories.
Sharon was gifted with an innate musical talent from a young age. She studied piano throughout her childhood and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston. Although she performed professionally during and after her studies, Sharon never sought the spotlight. Her true gift lay in arranging, editing, and transcribing music into written form. After relocating from the Boston area to Los Angeles, she joined Alfred Publishing Company, and educational music published. her melodious work appears in numerous piano books. Sharon understood the beauty of simplicity. She has an uncanny talent for simplifying sheet music for piano students of every level without sacrificing the complexity of harmonies. She knew where to place that one strategic note that would suggest a more sophisticated chord, allowing less accomplished pianists to achieve a jazzy, polished sound. Her creations were beautiful.
Shortly after moving West Sharon met Alan, the love of her life, during a business call. Their initial conversation led to a coffee date, where the connection was immediate. They married in 1982 and shared a deep bond that endured until her passing. Together, they enjoyed traveling, exploring national parks, and visiting coastal destinations.
Sharon bravely faced two bouts of breast cancer over the course of a decade, yet she refused to let the disease define her. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life- cherishing time with family and close friends, tending to her garden, trying new recipes, and crafting beautiful wind chimes and mobiles from vintage jewelry. Her happiest moments were spent snuggled on the sofa with Alan and their beloved cats, Fred and Luna, watching television together. That simple, cozy time was the heart of her world.
Sharon is predeceased by her parents, Eli and Irene Moffie, Of Blessed Memories. She is survived by her brother, Barry Moffie, and his wife, Jeri (Dishler), of Peabody, NA; her sister, Barbara (Moffie) Gilchrist, and her husband Craig, of Ocean Grove, NJ; her nieces, Mara (Moffie) Smith and her husband, Kevin, and their sons, Eli and Jamie, and Leah (Moffie) Bordieri and her husband, Charles.
