Orphaned at a young age, he was raised by his dear grandmother and many devoted aunts, uncles, and cousins. Raymond was a military veteran who served in the Army with honor and distinction. His humor and generosity were hallmarks of his character, and he was deeply respected by all who knew him.
Following his time in the service, Raymond dedicated himself to his education, earning his Associate degree from Los Angeles Pierce College, and raised his family in the San Fernando Valley. Raymond often opened his home to family members in need, and was known in the neighborhood as a friend. He coached soccer at the local park, enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He also frequented his favorite honky tonk, The Cowboy Palace Saloon, for many years, where he enjoyed line dancing and the company of his friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Carmen, siblings Gilbert and Carmen, and daughter Hermina, and is survived by five children: Steve, Kathleen, Emma, Jeannette, and Raymond, fourteen grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was also a cherished godfather and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all.
Raymond will be remembered for his quick wit, vivid storytelling, quiet strength, his dependability, and his love for and dedication to his family.
Rest in peace, Raymond. Your legacy continues through the tribe you have built and the lives you have touched.
