Patricia Diane Tanner, neé Riolo, of Thousand Oaks passed away on February 24, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born on November 24, 1932, in Sacramento, California, where she grew up. After graduating from San Juan High School, Pat pursued a career as a dental assistant.
On July 2, 1960, she married the love of her life, Don Tanner, and together they embarked on a journey with the U.S. Air Force. Their adventures took them to Phoenix, followed by four years in Germany. While Don served a tour of duty in Vietnam, Pat returned to Phoenix. In 1967, when Don became a pilot for United Airlines, they settled in Thousand Oaks, where they build a life filled with love, friendship, and community service.
Pat embraced her new home with enthusiasm and became a dedicated volunteer. She was a Civic Member of the Chamber of Commerce for many years and an active member of the Community Leaders Club at California Lutheran College, where she also served as President. Alongside Don, she played a key role in Conjeo Valley Days, where they were best known for leading the beloved "Whiskeroo" Contest.
A vibrant and fun-loving woman, Pat was full of energy and warmth and was quite proud of her Sicilian heritage. She loved reminiscing about racing her MG sports car in the 1950's and was always ready to share a great story. Her love extended to her family, friends, children, and animals- especially cats. She and Don enjoyed traveling, camping in their motorhome, and later taking cruises with dear friends.
Pat is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Don Tanner; her beloved son, Chris Tanner; her nephew, Michael Riolol and her close friends, Terry Moerler and Raymond McCarthy, along with many other family and friends whose lives she touched.
She will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit, quick wit, contagious laugh, impeccable sense of style, and her beautiful signature hair. Pat's presence brought joy to all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 11 am at Los Robles Greens, 299 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks. Please RSVP to Terry Moerler, 805-377-9933, call or text.
