

Michael Alfred Horton, age 72, of Yucca Valley, CA, passed away into the Lord’s care on May 5, 2024. Michael was a wonderful son, a great friend, a loving brother, and an amazing uncle, who always had a smile and an interesting story to tell you. He was loved by all who knew him.
Michael was born to parents Alfred and Doris Horton on March 31, 1952, in Glendale, CA. Michael, a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews, was known as 'The Favorite Uncle'. Michael appreciated history, culture and music. He was an avid reader and enjoyed adding to his extensive collection of classic movies. Michael loved to travel, especially to Baja Mexico, and to Europe. He also enjoyed visiting family and friends, spreading smiles and laughter wherever he went.
Michael graduated from California State University, Northridge with a BA degree. He was employed as a machinist before transitioning to being a short haul delivery driver. He worked in this position for the clothing company Judy’s, Henry Mayo Hospital, and other firms for 35 years before retiring to Yucca Valley in 2014.
Michael was predeceased by his father Alfred Horton, his stepbrother, Eric Mickelson and stepfather Maynard Mickelson. He is survived by his mother, Doris Horton Thompson, stepfather John Thompson, and his siblings Robert Horton, Kellie Horton, Merri & Jimmy Leonard, and stepsiblings Nancy & Jacque Lorraine, Amy Mickelson, David Mickelson, Paul Mickelson, Steven & Ashley Thompson, Tracey Thompson, and many nephews and nieces.
Michael’s beautiful spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Services will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 12pm at Knollwood United Methodist Church, located at 12121 Balboa Blvd, Granada Hills, CA 91344. A reception at the church will follow.
