Lucy Kerecman

Lucy (Davis) Kerecman passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 95. Lucy was born on February 6, 1931, in Chicago, IL. She spent her childhood in Milwaukee, WI where she married John and had four children. The family traded midwestern winters for sunny southern California in 1964 when John received a promotion. This is where their family grew by one with the addition of Laura.

Lucy's greatest joy was being a mom and raising her children with love. Her deep faith guided her daily life, and she dedicated countless hours at St. Bernardine over the course of over fifty years; alter care, Stephen Ministry, OASIS, providing meals in downtown Los Angeles with the Missionaries of Charity, and Mary & Martha’s. Members of the parish were among her dearest friends.

Lucy could often be found on her patio, enjoying flowers, birds, and hummingbirds. She was a member of the West Valley Garden Club for over thirty years, holding numerous offices and expanding her knowledge of all things garden, as well as her circle of dear friends. Each night she could be found watching Jeopardy. She never missed a Laker's game, even enjoying a few in person. Lucy loved her Packers as well. She had endless strong opinions about rearranging furniture and artwork, even up to her final days. Her favorite food group was chocolate, and a cookie after dinner was not "real dessert". Real dessert was served around 8:15 pm and was more substantial than a cookie.

To be in Lucy’s presence was to be blessed; she loved without judgement, gave generously, and was a living example that faith, strength and kindness can exist in the same beautiful person.

Lucy is survived by her five children, Mary, Kathy, Danny, (Loreni), Linda, (Earl), and Laura; two grandchildren, Kyle (Linda) and Courtney (Josh); and three great grandchildren, Austin, Brayden, and Harlee. She was preceded in death by her husband, John.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at St. Bernardine of Siena Catholic Church (24410 Calvert Street, Woodland Hills, CA). Luncheon reception to follow in Msgr. Murray Hall. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org) or World Central Kitchen (www.wck.org).
