Leroy Benjamin Johnson Jr.

Leroy Benjamin Johnson Jr. passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the age of 99. He was lovingly taken care of by Assisted Hospice and the wonderful staff at the Veterans Home of California, Ventura.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Donna Jean Johnson.

Leroy was born on a farm in Washington, Pennsylvania on January 4, 1927. When WW2 broke out he left home at 16 and joined the Navy, where he served on an aircraft carrier in the South Pacific.

Leroy continued his love for flying in a Cessna 195 while the kids were young and traveled across the United States. He was director of operations at Statham Instruments, Oxnard, for over 20 years. After Statham he managed Dow Key Microwave, Ventura.

He is survived by his sons, Ralph (Billie) Johnson and Raymond (Maureen) Johnson; and daughter, Carol (Richard) Janis; his grandchildren, Taylor Johnson, Dan Johnson, Kim Johnson, Billy (Dory Chan) Janis, and Leesa (Josh) Kercheville; and his great-granddaughter, Jolie.

Upon retirement, they moved to Lake Nacimiento, where they met many friends and enjoyed retirement the fullest. They will be truly missed.

The family would like to thank the Veterans Home, Ventura for the care and compassion they showed Leroy in his final days; also Assisted Hospice for their care.
