

Jay Phillip (“Phil” or “JP”) Turner of Thousand Oaks, CA, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at the age of 78. He was born on April 12, 1948 in Centralia, Illinois. Phil grew up in Inglewood, CA. He graduated from Inglewood High School in 1966. Phil was a Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart recipient who served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967-1969. He was a dedicated firefighter and retired as a Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion Chief. Phil was an avid shotgun shooter and motorcycle rider. He served as second officer of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club Ventura County Chapter. Phil was known as a genuinely kind and devoted family member, friend, and colleague. Phil was preceded in death by his sister, Gail, and his wife, Nancy. Phil is survived by his children, Angela and Jordan, his granddaughter, Isabelle, his sister, Gwen, his nephew, Michael, his niece, Katie, Katie’s daughters, Taylor and Myka, and Katie’s grandchildren, Jack and Scottie. The family would like to thank Phil’s longtime close friend, Pat Shanley, for his unwavering support during Phil’s final days.
