

Janet Susan Kagele was born in Los Angeles, CA in the autumn of 1945. She attended Fairfax High School and soon after met and fell in love with Larry Kagele. They married in 1965 and built the life of their dreams, including creating a family with their two children Darrin and Marna.
Janet was passionate about building a career and fulfilled this by attending college at the same time Darrin was in college. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Northridge as well as a teaching credential. She then taught elementary school for 21 years in the San Fernando Valley pursuing additional coursework so she could rise to the top-level teachers can attain. With a love for the arts, Janet enjoyed a brief period of acting in several movies and tv shows after retirement and took courses in Art history at Pierce College. She had a life-long joy of creating crocheted clothing, toys, and blankets. Janet and Larry traveled the world extensively in retirement making wonderful memories in places like Brazil, China, Kenya, Italy, Greece, Russia, England, France, Netherlands, Costa Rica, Tahiti, Hawaii, Canada, Poland, Czech Republic, and Germany.
Janet was known for her humor as she sought to bring wit and levity to any situation with her unique perspective. She was also known for her compassion for others as demonstrated by the way she helped to ensure kids in her school had enough clothing and jackets to be comfortable learning.
Janet passed away on September 23, 2026 and will be forever remembered by her loving husband and life partner of 61 years Larry, her son Darrin (Christina, Ruby) and daughter Marna (Mark).
