James Adelbert Austin

He dedicated a remarkable career with Southern California Edison for 52 years, which he truly loved. He first retired in 1996. With his passion and his work ethic, he returned as a consultant until May 2015.

Jim was an amazing, talented craftsman. There was almost nothing he couldn’t fix. He loved to travel, and his main passions in life were woodworking, golf, and his dogs. He was able to golf every chance he got. He also achieved a hole in one, not just once but twice. He was a dedicated member of Fillmore Lions Club and held many offices. Jim dabbled in so many things. Loved them all.

He loved his family. On November 22nd,1980, he married his wife, Martha Phyllis, and they were together for 46 years. He left behind 5 children. Pamela (Larry) Franklin, Brenda (Eric) LaFlamme, Damon (Dezi) Austin, Heidi (Chris) Jones, and John. He also left behind 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. He is survived by siblings Alice (Robert)Venhaus, Daniel (Gale)

Austin, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Geraldine Austin; brothers Joe Austin, Albert Austin, and David Austin; and sister Barbara Garrett.

He accepted Christ and was baptized at a very young age. Read the Word of God every morning and sang his favorite hymns as he attended church. He lived the Christ life at work, in service, and creating bonds with his dear friends.
