passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025 in Camarillo, Ca at
the age of 94.
A devoted patriot, respected businessman, philanthropist,
mentor, and a proud father, Borden lived a life defined by service,
leadership, and unwavering dedication to others. Raised in
Attleboro, he developed the discipline and strong moral
foundation that guided him throughout his life.
On September 1, 1951, he enlisted in the United States Armed
Force in Boston and proudly served in the United States Air
Force. His most significant duty assignment was with the 21st
Motor Vehicle Squadron, where he exemplified commitment,
precision, and honor. His years in the Air Force shaped the
structure, confidence, and integrity that became hallmarks of his
character.
Following his service, Borden pursued his education at Bridgeton
Academy in Maine, Bishop-Lee Theatre School in Boston, and
the famous Pasadena Playhouse in California. In 1960, he
entered the Insurance field and joined Republic National as
General Agent in 1963. He built a distinguished career as a
broker, rising to become one of the top insurance sales
professionals, known for his determination, and ability to build
lasting relationships.
Yet, beyond his professional success, Borden’s greatest pride
was his beloved son, Mark Davis, who went to become a
professional athlete. From an early age, Borden coached,
mentored and guided his son with passion and dedication, often
saying that raising and supporting his son was one of his
greatest accomplishments.
A lifelong lover for baseball, Borden believed deeply in mastering
fundamentals and perfecting technique. He often spoke of
writing a book titled Trigger Technique, devoted to teaching the
proper mechanics and successful hitting. His dedication to youth
athletics and his philanthropy left a lasting impact on the
community. In recognition of his generosity, and commitment to
developing youth athletes, a baseball field in Sherman Oaks-Van
Nuys War Memorial Park was named in his honor.
In 2008, he published his book Silent Brand, lovingly dedicating
it to his mother, Goldie Ophelia Davis, who gave him
unconditional love and instilled in him a strong work ethic.
Borden will be remembered not only for his strength, leadership,
and generosity, but also for his vibrant personality and
unforgettable sense of humor. Quick-witted, and full of stories, he
could light up any room. A man of deep faith, he carried himself
with quiet confidence and trust in God. He also had a beautiful
singing voice and brought joy and comfort to family and friends
whenever he shared it.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever
honored.
