Wayne Anton Lattin of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on Friday February 7, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on February 4, 1940, in Glasgow, Montana, and grew up on the family farm in Power, Montana. Wayne became an excellent student once he began wearing glasses, and he initially wanted to be a veterinarian. Realizing that he would be allergic to most of his animal patients, he opted to pursue a career as a doctor.
Wayne began Medical School at the University of North Dakota, eventually earning his M.D. from the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston in 1967. While at UND, he met Nadia Storozuk. They were married in June of 1965, and were blessed with two children (Jason and Julie). Wayne and Nadia were happily married for 59 years.
After many years of training, Wayne worked as an Anesthesiologist, eventually moving to Phoenix in 1976 to work at the Surgicenter. As a new outpatient clinic, the Surgicenter was one of the first of its kind in the country. Wayne worked there his entire career until his retirement in 2002.
Wayne never forgot his upbringing as an outdoorsman and farmer, and continued hunting, camping, flying (as a licensed pilot), boating and any other activity that would get him outdoors, particularly to the mountains, so long as he was able. He also carried with him a solid Christian faith, which he demonstrated through his kind and gentle nature, and his insistence on a formal Christian education for his children. His legacy of faith will carry on for many generations.
Wayne is preceded in death by his father Anton Stephen Lattin and mother Ann Marie Pfiefer.
Wayne is survived by his wife Nadia, son Jason (Vonda), daughter Julie, brother William and grandchildren Caleb and Ella Lattin.
As Wayne’s family and friends will attest, he had a way of making those around him feel loved and accepted. Although a man of few words, those who were blessed to know him could sense that he always wanted to see them thrive in life, and he would always do whatever he could to help each of them make that a reality. We will miss you dearly papa.
A private memorial service will be held for friends and family.
