Bob began life in Nashville, Tennessee on August 20, 1940, the second son of Stanton and Evelyn Throneberry. Just a few years later the family relocated permanently to Santa Ana, California. It was here where Bob began a life-long passion for football playing for the Santa Ana High School football team. As a young man Bob had the calling to teach, earned his Masters in Education from the University of Southern California, and became a math teacher which eventually led to work in school administration as a principal and superintendent.
With the good fortune of living in Southern California, Bob enjoyed hanging out around the beaches and it was on the sands of one of these beaches where he happened to trip over a young woman named Gloria McCullough who would become the love of his life until he left her and his family to meet the Lord. Bob and Gloria would go on to raise three sons and later Bob would transition from education into a very successful career as an Insurance Agent.
After living in California most of his life, Bob eventually settled with Gloria in Surprise in 1999 where he entered into his third "career" as a world-class softball player for the Sun City Grand softball league, became a devoted Arizona Cardinals season ticket holder and was also an expert world traveler having visited over 80 countries. Bob lived his life with a spirit and energy that touched and inspired many people until his body could no longer keep up and he passed on August 7, 2019.
Preceded in death by his father, mother and older brother Stanton, Jr., Bob is survived by his wife Gloria, his sons Steve, Daren and Kevin, four grandchildren and his sister Carol Peet. A celebration of Bob's wonderful life will be held on November 3, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Sun City Grand softball field as per local tradition.
A donation in Bob's name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
