I am just now seeing this and my heart is broken to know Dick has left us!! I hope his final days were peaceful and surrounded by family. He was such a wonderful man!!! We share a birthday which always made us smile. We spent time at their cabin, shared lunches, dinners, lots of stories and even more laughs. He was always so kind, gentle and offered the best support and advice. Then life got crazy busy and we fell out of touch. I have missed him dearly for a while and now must send the universe a final Farwell. God speed, Dick Johnson! Tamara

Just learned about my former roommate's death. We roomed together when Dick was a sophomore at Juniata College, and I was a senior.
When he was a freshman, he wanted to be part of the newspaper staff, and I was the editor. He didn't have any particular journalism bent, but we all liked him, and he worked on getting my attention, which in a way was flattering. He was everything I was not: Big, good-looking, popular with the girls, well-liked by guys and sort of charming.
One day as I was walking by with my girlfriend, Dick tossed spitballs at me from a fire escape.
We did some crazy things. Perhaps the craziest was that after winter semester finals, we went out to his family cottage on Raystown Lake. We found two bicycles in a neighbor's garage and pedaled out onto the frozen surface. At one point Dick said, "I've never seen it frozen over before." Not too smart, but we had fun.
One day after I graduated, I was back on campus for something. Dick showed up and suggested that we look at our old dorm room. The building and the room were open. He suggested that we spend the night there, sleeping on bare matresses.
I never met anybody else quite like him.

Our awesome neighbor Dick, we met Dick when we moved in next door 9 yrs ago. We are originally from Guam and when we got talking he mentioned he did visit Guam and how he called it paradise. Dick was a funny and thoughtful man and he loved my cooking his favorite was my desserts, even when he moved I still gave Geri food to bring to him and she always comes home telling me he loved everything. Dick you will be greatly missed but no one will miss you more than your wife Geri❤️
Don’t worry we will take care of Geri although she’s having a hard time with you not being here and always missing you just watch over her because her love for you is genuine and we saw it everyday.
We Love you Dick just rest easy now you deserve it💋. Jesse , Eloise San Nicolas & Family 💋❤️

I’m so blessed to have many memories filled with love and laughter. Dick’s smile and laugh would light up the room. However, you knew when he was serious and meant business.
I’ll never forget the look he gave me when I said, “What’s China Chili?” I know now, and can say, the best Chinese restaurant in Phoenix.
Blessings and prayers. Rest In Peace.
Love ❤️ Tracey

The Bear and Frank Iapollo were my first partners at 90 Church Street, we were a 3 man team. I learned a lot from them and they were my cover while I worked undercover. I have spoken with Dick on several occasions over the years and will miss him, a great guy.

Dick was undoubtedly one of the most thoroughly nice inspectors and SACs I ever knew in 25 years with DEA. He was an old-school agent and manager, and as decent a human being as ever drew a breath. A great loss; he’ll be missed by all who knew him.

Dick was not only a colleague, but a dear friend. He was a great SAC and a true leader who led from the front. Always treated his agents with kindness and respect. His wisdom and experience kept us all out of harm's way, and for that I will always be thankful.
I loved working with and for him after we both retired from DEA.
The highest compliment a U.S. Marine can receive after successfully completing his mission are the words " Well done Marine." Dick has more than earned a "Well Done."

Geronimo Estates will always be remembered as our special times together. Diane and I will never forget the special memories we shared together with you and Geri. Hiking, target shooting , fire pit parties. Our grandchildren (now in there late 20's and 30's loved to be entertained by Dick, making Donald Duck sounds. Dick was just a big kid at heart, we loved to listen to his stories and to him sing in his big baritone voice. Every day with was an adventure. Even though he is gone we will always be left with wonderful memories!!!

We're certainly going to miss our dear friend and neighbor. Met Dick and his wonderful wife, Geri, over 25 years ago when our homes were being built at the same time. Will never forget his wonderful smile or those great stories. He was a generous, loving person and made one feel like a long time friend even if you hadn't known him that long. Rest easy dear friend and we will look out for Geri.

Dick had the most amazing heart.

It was mid-July. Geri called stating that she and Dick were going up to the cabin and asked if I would like to come. I explained that I just got out of the hospital and didn't know if I was up to it. Call the doctor and find out, she said. Well, the doctor said as long as I could take a break every hour to walk around, he didn't see an issue. I told Geri what the doctor said, and they agreed it was something we could do. Dick had set his watch to notify him every hour for a rest stop. Every hour he stopped, helped me out of the SUV to let me stretch my legs. No complaints, no huffs, he was a kind soul.

Got to the cabin, Geri and I went for a little walk, and when we got back, there was Dick sitting in a lawn chair towards the side of the cabin with a shot gun, stating that he was going to get that darn woodpecker, since nothing else worked. The woodpecker did not show up. I will always smile when these memories come to the surface. When I was talking to Geri the other day and told her the above stories, we both laughed out loud. Thank you, Dick for being the kind soul you were to me. I'm still seeing you in that chair with that shotgun waiting for the woodpecker and smiling.

Dick and I worked together after we both retired. What a great guy and a good friend. We had some laughs for sure and did some good cases. He’d give me hell about his unorganized I was. He even bought me a Day Timer. RIP

Dick was a great stand up guy through his career. Glad I loopgot to know him and his wife Geri even better during our retirement years. Bill Coonce.

I first met Dick in FBN NYC and have encountered no man more loyal to our profession. Dick was able to bring order out of chaos and made all of us enjoy ourselves to the hilt. His sense of humor was unsurpassed and he had an instinct for the human side of any situation. A stalwart leader and a stellar patriot. his modesty, his willingness to perform any task, his courage made Dick a shinning example. He brought his individuality to DEA and to life and showed us all a special courage in facing death.

I worked with Dick in New York and saw him again years later in D.C. He was the most caring person and a true friend. I have and will always remember him with the deepest regard. May he Rest In Peace. Sincerest condolences to his family and to all who love him and I am sure there are many.

May he rest in peace. DEA moved to Dallas in 1977/78 and Dick and his family became good friends. How could you not like Dick? He had the kindest heart and, as Kimberly said, those eyes and smile that said everything. Beyond that, he was a mentor I owe a lot to and I'm happy he had such a good life after DEA and was surrounded by love.

My prayers and heartfelt condolences to Geri and the entire Johnson family. Goodbye, my friend. Thomas Campbell wrote “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die” and Dick will certainly live in all our hearts!!!

Dick was a fellow agent in Philadelphia, my Boss in Phoenix and a friend for over 50 years. He was a bear of a man, with great wit and wonderful personal loyalties. I am very saddened by his passing. My sincere condolences to his wife Geri and their family.

There was nothing typical or small about our friend Dick Johnson. He was an epic storyteller. Tales off his adventures and stakeouts were so memorable, entertaining, and surprisingly true. He was a gentle giant with the smallest kid happily sitting on his lap. Our grandnephew loved being with him. He made "the best" pancakes ever. We discovered later that they were out of a box, "just add water". We cherish our many memories with him and Geri and will miss him.

Dick Johnson will be missed by the DEA family, his loved ones, and his many, many friends. He was one great boss! I will never forget that he would personally call me every month to tell me to hang in there while my background was being processed. RIP!

My memories of Mr. J all include thoughts of Geri because it was always evident they truly have been soulmates from the beginning. When they were around you couldn't help but feel happy and upbeat because their love radiated to everyone in their presence. Big expressive smiles and dancing eyes and laughs and hugs were always their gift to friends and family. Mr. J will live on in all the wonderful memories we have, and his smile and twinkling eyes will forever be reflected in his loving wife Geri.

Mr Richard Johnson, I would never forget our made up Languages and the laughter we shared the love you shared with your wife that inspired me to love and the people around me more.I’m great full to have spend time around u and the friendship we shared

Geri and family. My deepest heartfelt sympathy go out to all of you. Dick will be so missed. I will miss his bantering humor with us girls at the hair salon. He was so cute. hugs to all of you,--- DeeAnn

It is said that once in a lifetime do you meet your true soulmate. Well Dick Johnson, we found ours in each other. So often throughout our 35 years we've spoken of being "together forever" I miss you so very much already. But I am here to let you know I intend to find you again and we will again fulfill that promise we made. I love you Dick. With all my heart.

You’re sorely missed Dick! I’ll always remember your kindness and generosity. You shared so much of yourself with all of us. It was always a treat to see you and mom pull up in the driveway after a long cross country trip to visit us. The stories you shared and the laughs you created made every visit memorable and a cherished memory! You did so much for everyone you knew! Thank you for being in our family for 36 years!! We love you!

When Dick Johnson became the SAC of the Phoenix Division, a breath of fresh air took over the Division. Dick treated all with equal respect. We worked hard, laughed and shed many tears, always with the same goal in mind. Dick became a good friend and spouse to my good friend Geri. The years have passed, our lives have changed, and now God has called Dick home. Rest in peace, Mr J. We will keep our arms around Geri until we all meet again. ❤️

My Dad… I will forever be grateful for this photo that Christine took of our dad last year. It is everything to me. This is how I will forever remember him, he loved his kids more than he would ever know how to express, but those eyes and that sweet smile say it all. 💙

Although it was difficult to see him confined to his bed for the last almost 2 years, he somehow was ok. He wasn't angry at his situation, he was grateful to those that cared for him, always greeted me with his warm smile , he still told stories of long ago (in great detail too) and always told me how much he loved me and how glad he was to see me. He made me laugh, a few times I cried and I just loved being with him.

We said goodbye just after midnight on the 27th - all his kids and Geri were by his side which I believe is exactly how he planned it to be. I am beyond grateful that we were given that gift. I will miss our visits, his stories, his jokes, his made up language, the songs he would sing, the songs we would sing together (especially singing from the album ‘The Point’) and how he was always showed up for me throughout my life and for that I thank you.

I love you Dad... I will miss you more than you will ever know but, I know that you are here with me now and that you will always be by my side.

The very first time we met our brother-in-law, Dick, it seemed like we knew him forever. His great personality, wit, and genuine interest in our lives made it so easy to welcome him into our family.

Our fond memories of Dick are watching him eat so many ears of corn on the cob and when he was challenged to eat a gigantic ice cream cone shortly after eating a huge dinner. He did not lose the challenge !!!
God Bless You Dick !!🙏🏽

We miss you already Mr. J!! (Okay I KNOW that once you retired as SAC of the Phoenix Division you told us to call you Dick but we have SO much respect & love for you that Mr. J seems more appropriate!) You were a GREAT SAC & brought much needed healing, direction, & compassion to our Division! We worked hard but you always made time for a good laugh or a fun challenge! You made us great again! I will always remember your great sense of humor; soaring intelligence; and your fair & compassionate heart! Larry & I were SO blessed when you & Geridene were married in our home! We will miss you and love you always! Make sure you send Geri your love every day as you always have! xoxo

From the time you joined our family , and we called you Dick by name, you responded better to OPA, and we loved you just the same.
Although the time has come to say goodbye, with the many tears we shed, we often share the memories of the times we had instead.
We love you and you will always be in our hearts.

Dick Johnson is my father-In-law, the stepfather of my amazing wife Stefanie. He granted permission to date Stefanie after a lengthy background check on me., even calling some of my coworkers. We had an instant bond because of our love of this country and law enforcement. I loved sharing cop stories but his were always better, he was a great story teller. I think one of the best moments was when I introduced him to Rita’s cherry frozen custard. He loved a sweet treat. I love you Special Agent Dick Johnson, God Bless you, we have the watch from here, rest easy, and save me a seat!

What an amazing man and I had the blessing of having you as a bonus Dad for 36 years. I love you very much, Dick and while I am grieving I am also celebrating you going home. I love you-Stefanie
