Phyllis Kay Snider

Phyllis Smith Snider, age 81, passed away peacefully in her home on September 21, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, with her family lovingly by her side. She was deeply loved, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Phyllis was born on August 30, 1945, and grew up in Vincennes, Indiana. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1963.

Phyllis shared 62 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Tom. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and the many memories they created over more than six decades together.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Snider; her sister, Violet (Sis); and her children, Lisa, Thomas Jr. (Allison), Tracey (Dave), and Tim (Tina).

Phyllis was a beloved Mammaw to Chris (Elizabeth), Andrew (Kelly), Daniele (Justin), Ryan, Treston, Ashley (Tyler), Jacob, Kaily, Kiley (Jonah), and Kyle (Sasha), and a proud great-grandmother to Adelynn, McKenna, and Olivia. She was also very dear to many nieces and nephews, who will remember her with great love and affection.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leota and Ira Smith; her brothers, Ed (Eva), Don (Barbara), Harold, Jack (Susie), and Doyle; and her granddaughter, Haley Snider.

Above all, Phyllis will be remembered for the love she had for her family and the special role she played in so many lives. The years brought countless family gatherings, celebrations, milestones, and everyday moments that will now be treasured memories.

Although Alzheimer’s changed many things in the later years of her life, it never changed how deeply she was loved. Her family will remember Phyllis not for the disease she faced, but for the woman she was throughout her life—a devoted wife, loving mother, sister, beloved Mammaw, great-grandmother, aunt, and loved one whose presence helped shape the family she leaves behind.

Her family takes comfort in the many years they were blessed to share with her and in knowing that the love and memories she created will continue through generations.

Phyllis will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held close in the hearts of her family and friends.

A private service for family will be held on Saturday, September 27 at 4:00 p.m. at the Snider residence.

An additional service celebrating Phyllis’ life will be held in her hometown of Vincennes, Indiana, on October 10 at 4:00 at the Eagles Lodge, 1325 Willow Street, Vincennes, Indiana.
