Mickey-Mary Murphy, OP, of Mesa Arizona passed away on March 17th, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born on August 15th, 1942 in St. John’s Newfoundland where she grew up until the family moved to Jacksonville Florida in 1950. She later graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1961.
She worked as a clerk at the Naval Commissaries in Maine, Key West and Maryland, a Recreation Therapist and as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Bangor Maine, until retiring in Mesa, Arizona.
She was actively involved in AA, Resurrection Catholic Church in Temple Arizona, going to concerts in Mesa and being with her friends. She was a member of the Dominican Laity in Otisfield, which she took great pride in. She was an avid reader, always looking to learn. She enjoyed games of all kinds. When her kids were younger, she made her daughter’s clothes and even her Barbie doll clothes. She enjoyed going to her son’s little league games and rooting him on.
She is preceded in death by her parents John Fry Farmer and Ellen (Murphy) Farmer, her sister Ellen Thompson, nephew Jason Thompson.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Farmer and grandsons Anthony, Enrique, Ade and Josani, as well as her son- Richard Lance Govang and granddaughters Kyra and Riley. Sister and brother-in-law Judy and Mickey Calaci, Niece Jenifer Merritt
Mickey moved to Arizona in the early 2000s to enjoy the dry heat and have less problems with her arthritis. She had a great group of friends in Mesa and stayed in contact with all the friends that she had made while living in Maine.
The family would like to thank Sandridge Acute Care of Mesa Arizona for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Community of the Resurrection at 205 Poplar Ridge Rd. Otisfield, Maine on Saturday May 10th at 11:00 A.M.
