With great sadness the family announces the passing of our dear friend and family member, Peggy Williams.
Peggy grew up in Arizona, but spent most of her adult life in Silicon Valley, in California working for General Electric, Sun Microsystems, Tandem Computers, Compaq and Hewlett Packard. Peggy spent her 50 years in Management focused in the field of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management. Peggy was active in the Supplier Management Association, taking leadership roles including 3 times Past President of the Silicon Valley Chapter. She served in all of the Vice President Roles including Professional Development. She was also the Chair of the Ethics Committee for The National Purchasing Association.
Peggy obtained her BA Degree from UOP in Business Administration. She received her C.P.M. in Purchasing and her teaching credentials in Marketing and Distribution. She was an instructor for adult education at DeAnza College and San Jose State University.
For over 25 years she was a teacher to hundreds of students seeking to enter or advance in the field of Purchasing and Materials Management, and a mentor to many. As a busy instructor and speaker, Peggy enjoyed watching the bright men and women move up the ladder in the competitive market of Silicon Valley . Her coaching skills and ability to motivate and instill confidence in her students gave Peggy great satisfaction and many proud moments.
In the year 2000, Peggy and Sandra moved to The Villages Golf and Country Club in East San Jose, where they enjoyed the golf many friendships in beautiful surroundings. Peggy was elected to a term on the Villages Board of Director’s, followed by retirement and a move to Arizona to care for her mother.
Peggy always had a passion for Bowling and jumped into the sport again quickly in Arizona. She has been Secretary for a large Ladies League for several seasons.
We will miss Peggy’s incredible sense of humor and forgiving ways. She is leaving an empty spot in our lives but a pleasant place in our memories. We are happy knowing that Peggy enjoyed the loved ones that surrounded her and the accomplishments she achieved throughout her life. She worked hard, took time to play and enjoyed loving all the people in her life, especially her partner and soul mate.
Peggy leaves behind her best friend and life partner of 47 ½ years, Sandra Leavitt and their 3 children, Dee Leavitt (Beth), Sharel Fernandes and R. Jacob Leavitt (Anthony). She also leaves behind their grandchildren, Jessica, Sarina, Meredith, Kyle (Courtney), Katie and 2 great-grandchildren, Isabella and Harrison.
Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Marge and Nick Balestrieri. Peggy had two sister’s and a brother. She was also blessed with so many close friends in both California and Arizona, and she cherished them dearly.
