Marcia Catherine Thompson, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on January 4, 2018 in Frederick, MD. “Cathy” and her twin Mary Carole were born in Los Angeles, CA on November 10, 1943 to parents Mary Catherine Henninger and Jack Wetmore Nicholas. Cathy will be forever remembered by her children, Steve Thompson of Phoenix, AZ and Jennifer Thompson Rosas, Jennifer’s husband Tom and treasured grandchildren Sydney and Antonio of Frederick, MD, along with family and friends who were blessed to have her in their lives. Cathy grew up in Burbank, CA with her brother Nicholas and sisters Mary Carole and Jacquelyn. She worked at Lockheed in the top security clearance Skunk Works department. Cathy married in California, where she and her husband Larry started a family then moved to Phoenix to raise their children, doing what she loved the most. She was the ultimate mother to her children and many others, fixing amazing meals, maintaining a beautiful garden and home, and making every holiday special. Cathy was an entrepreneur at heart, always thinking about the next invention. She grew sweet peas in the backyard and sold them at the Biltmore Fashion Park. She also created a line of fine jams called Lola Nicholas’ Jungle Jams which were sold in AJ’s Fine Foods. Cathy moved to Boise, ID in 2010, then to Frederick, MD in 2013 with her daughter and family. Her smile could light up a room and her caring spirit left a lasting impression on so many. She would often carry mints and chocolates in her purse to share with friends, her doctor, a janitor, anyone she thought could use a pick me up. She always had music playing throughout the day and loved to dance. Cathy was classy, fun loving, charitable, warm, sweet, kind and selfless, putting others needs before her own. Cathy was loved and adored by so many…She had the biggest heart, often supporting various charities and held a special place in her heart for animals.
