Malcolm Lee Goode passed away on December 31, 2024, peacefully in Scottsdale, Arizona, sixty-five years to the date of meeting his wife, Sue. Lee was born in Taft, Kern County, California to Malcolm Goode and Marjorie Goode (Hazen).
Lee grew up in Bakersfield and attended Bakersfield High School with his brother Dale Goode and best friend Ed French. After high school, Lee enlisted in the Army. He spent three years during the Korean War in Army Security working for the National Security Agency in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. After college he was given a direct commission to 2nd Lieutenant and spent 22 years in Military Intelligence (USAR) retiring as a Captain. His civilian occupation kept the family moving and they lived in 22 different locations in Arizona, Wisconsin, Hawaii, Oregon, New Jersey and California and traveled to all countries in the Far East.
Lee achieved degrees in Geology and Engineering from the University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque, and was a graduate in International Business from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird School of Global Management) in Glendale, AZ.
Lee retired as a Manager, International Sales from Ingersoll-Rand Corp in 1994, after 24 years with the company. He was a Lifetime member of the San Juan Capistrano Historical Society and had been a docent at the Mission San Juan Capistrano and a volunteer at Mission Hospital. Lee was a member of the American Legion (Post 721/Post 44), and Veterans of Foreign War (Post 7142).
Lee is survived by his wife, Miriam (Sue) Johnson Goode; children Dale (Kim), Cindy Goodwin (Curtis), Kate, Betsy Langan (Matt); his grandchildren Dylan and Kai Goode, Cody and Christopher Goodwin (Laura), great grandchildren Cal and Sloan, niece Lea Goode-Harris, and extended family.
The family plans on a celebration of Lee’s life in the near future. In lieu of a funeral, the family asks that you gather with loved ones, make some pupus (Hawaiian for hors d’oeuvres) and grab your favorite beverage of choice and toast to Lee Goode and his life well lived at sunset.
