Lew was born in Chile, Wisconsin to parents, Walter and Alma Durst on June 19, 1929. He joined the Navy and served in the Korean War. He was grateful for his service and for the many others who served.
On June 27, 1953, he married Nellie (Nell) Mae Dykstra in Chicago, Illinois, the home of his sweetheart. A few years later, they moved to their life-long home in Scottsdale. They were blessed with two children, a son, Gregory, and a daughter, Sandra.
At the heart of his life was his faith in and commitment for God, his commitment to the love of his life, Nell, and to all of his family, along with the patriotism he had for his country.
Lew is survived by his wife, Nell of ~70 years; son, Greg (Betty) Durst and daughter, Sandi Brock; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, 5 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all cherished by Lew.
We all will always greatly cherish and miss our husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, friend….
