~Nevermore will I see your smiling face, will I feel your strong firm embrace, will I wish upon the starry skies, will I gaze into your loving eyes, will I feel your warm lips upon mine, will my eyes sparkle and shine. The streets your feet will roam, because Our Lord and Savior decided to take you Home.~ John Richard Davis of Black Canyon City, AZ was called home to be with his Heavenly Father at his home the evening of Friday, May 26, 2017, at the age of 76. He was born in San Diego, CA on May 6, 1941 to Cecil and Roxie (Boland) Davis. After a whirlwind courtship of four weeks he married his only true love, Geri Grimes on May 19, 1972. They lived in the Sacramento CA area until 1984 raising their two children. In 1984 they moved to Phoenix, AZ. After both their children graduated from high school, they moved to the rural area of Black Canyon City in 1996. John was a truck driver by trade. With the help of his father he purchased a 1976 18-wheeler. He drove in 11 Western States until 1984 at which time he moved his family to Phoenix, AZ to drive locally so he could remain home with his family. John was a veteran, joining the Army when he was 17 years old, in Long Beach, CA. He was stationed at Fort Sheridan in Illinois after graduating boot camp. John loved the outdoors and in his single years he would work nine months and take three months to spend the summer boating, camping and fishing at Big Bear Lake in California. He then shared this experience with his own children and passed this love onto them. John is survived by his wife Geri and children: Toni (Mark) Middleton of Prescott Valley, AZ: John (Michelle) Davis of Phoenix, AZ: and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil R. Davis in 2009, his mother, Roxie M. Davis in 1985, his brother Robert E. Davis in 2010 and grandson Luke R. Davis in 2013. Now in his Heavenly home he has Luke to keep him busy and gramps to yell at them. In lieu of flowers you may contribute to Family Comfort Hospice of Phoenix, AZ. John’s wishes were honored with a small memorial gathering with immediate family at his home in Black Canyon City.
