Jo Anne Doughty

Jo Anne Doughty was born in August 1939 in Tarentum, PA, to Mary Lauricia Mirenzi Finnegan and Frank R. Mirenzi. The family moved to Penn Hills near Pittsburgh, PA in 1954, and she graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1957. She married William H. Doughty in July 1960 and within a year they lived in Heidelberg, Germany as a military family. They experienced the shock of the Berlin Wall going up after just six weeks after arriving in Germany. Their son William Louis Doughty was born in Heidelberg. The family lived in Germany and Japan and other locales through most of William L.’s young childhood and pre-adolescence. In 1976 they found themselves in Sierra Vista, AZ, where William H. retired from the US Army. They remained in Sierra Vista for 14 years, while their young son attended the University of Arizona, and Jo Anne and William H worked at Fort Huachuca in civil service. Jo Anne and William H later found civil service work in Japan and in Singapore, before retiring back to Sierra Vista in 2000. They later moved to Casa Grande, AZ and then Phoenix, AZ to be closer to their son and his family. William H. passed away in 2018. Jo Anne is survived by her son William L. (Heidi) and twin grandsons Liam and Evan Doughty. Also surviving are brother Frank J. and sisters Marlene and Joyce. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Donna Maria, and husband William H. Interment will be at National Memorial Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ, with her husband of 58 years.
