Jerry Lee Harrison of San Marcos, CA and Scottsdale, AZ passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the age of 87. His passing in Scottsdale followed a brief illness. He was born on April 2, 1935 at Mercy Hospital in San Diego, CA where he grew up in the North Park and Lakeside areas of San Diego enjoying the love of family around him.
He attended Grossmont High School and subsequently graduated from San Diego State University in 1960. He was a devoted and loving father raising his family principally in the Las Vegas area, but also with time living in Phoenix and San Diego.
He was an amazing businessman, with early involvement in the construction industry and other businesses. Later he found his passion ultimately starting retail and wholesale nurseries in the Las Vegas and North San Diego County areas. Jerry’s devotion to family and his nursery businesses spanned more than fifty years. He was generous in involving his family to their betterment in life. As a boss, he was patient and understanding to all.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Arleen Harrison, as well as his sister Arla Perkis, first wife Carol Harrison and son Mark Steven Harrison.
He is survived by his wife Lori McNicholas, as well as his brother Richard Judd, daughter Pam McCauley and son Jay Harrison. He was grandfather of eight grandchildren: Kraig Harrison and Kailey Golriz of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA; Kortney Feigert of Temecula, CA; Devinne McCauley, Darian McCauley and Danika McCauley of Las Vegas, NV; Mauri Hampl of Johns Island, SC; and Morgan Harrison of Denver, CO. Further, Jerry was blessed with seven great-grandchildren.
Jerry was active his entire life and was blessed with many friends. He loved golf and tennis, as well as travel. Professional trips with other nursery owners were especially memorable for him. His love of water and sunshine inspired travel over the years to snorkeling and scuba dive sites throughout the world.
No formal services will be held. Jerry’s remains are in the care of the Neptune Society where his wishes will be followed for cremation and subsequent scattering at sea off the coast of San Diego.
