Jamison Colman “JC” Higgins passed away after a year and half battle with lung cancer on November 15th, 2016 at Serenity Hospice, Phoenix, Arizona. At his side, he was comforted by his wife, Melody, daughter Lisa and grandson Logan. Beloved son born on March 16th, 1941 in Waltham, Massachusetts to Jamison Craig Higgins and Jasmine Lupo Higgins. JC was preceded in death by his parents, Jamison and Jasmine Higgins, and his brother Macy Higgins. JC grew up in Newton, MA, graduated from Watertown High school in June 1958 and enlisted in the US Navy in Sept of 1958. SCM Jamison Higgins enjoyed his career in the Navy and was on 18 ships before he retired from the Navy in 1978. His last enlistment was as a recruiter stationed in the community of Puyallup, Washington serving a total of 20 years. In 1982 JC founded JC Higgins & Associates, a real estate property management firm in Puyallup, WA. In Feb 2003, JC and Melody had purchased a second home in Gold Canyon, Arizona to enjoy their retirement life style. JC made several trips back n forth and had hired a manger to run the business. Dec 2004 JC officially retired followed by a surprise elegant retirement party and dinner party on Jan 6, 2005 at the Hanson Place in Sumner, WA Upon several months of his new Arizona life style, JC purchased a gelding palomino named Kody. He went from a 20-year attire of pristine corporate white collar, tie and suits to western jeans, boots and cowboy hat. JC was tagged as the “GQ” cowboy to other riding buddies for his style of western attire. He took up leather braiding/embossing beautiful work including reata’s, head stalls, bridles and tack gear. Was passionate about learning decorative knots for which most of his signature pieces had Turk Heads, Gaucho and Spanish Ring knots. He loved to cook and was always baking breads. In 2009, JC sold the company to Amber and Dave Emery after owning it for 27 years which still bears his name. In Dec 2009, JC graduated from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Posse (PCSO) patrolling for the David region thru May 2015 and continued as their treasurer for Arizona Public Safety Foundation. JC was survived by his wife, Melody Higgins, Arizona, daughter Lisa Lesley, Las Vegas, NV. Step daughters, Michelle Oconnor, Gig Harbor, WA and Traci Ludwig and son-n-law Tom Ludwig, Puyallup, WA. Grandson’s, Logan Leslie, Shane Oconnor and Nate Ludwig. Granddaughter’s, Brehanna Miller, Kaila Ludwig, and Great Granddaughters; Maya and Aerial Ludwig. Siblings, Jarrett Russo, Jerome Higgins, Danielle Byers, Tracy Higgins, Jude Higgins, Jeffrey Higgins and Cathy Butler. Step siblings, George Richard and Robert Carson. Sisters-n- laws, Brother-n-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank MD Anderson Cancer Center, Serenity Hospice and Neptune Society for their grace and care provided to JC. A special thank you to family and close friends for your support, JC’s buddies for his “breakfast dates, visits and phone calls. A special thankyou to the members of SIGC for the hours of support to Melody and JC the past several months and weeks following JC’s death. A memorial service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 No. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix AZ 85024 at 10:30 am on February 16th, 2017.
