Eva Cruz

July 30, 1929 – June 22, 2017 EVA (Evangelina) CRUZ, 87, passed away with peace, love, and grace on June 22, 2017, with family and friends by her side. A native of Arizona, she was born July 30, 1929, in Miami and grew up in Superior before making the valley her home. She is survived by her husband Gilbert, son Leonard (Linda), daughters Sue, Cindy, and Karen; her 3 grandchildren: Chris (Elizabeth), Nate, Tiffany; and, her 3 great grandchildren: Brianna, Eric, Maya. She is also survived by 2 brothers: Benny Perez and Robert Alvarez. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha (nee Cruz) O’Neill and brother, Raul Alvarez. Her kitchen was never closed. She loved cooking and baking (her salsa, capirotada, and biscochuelos were legendary), decorating for any and all holidays, dancing, listening to mariachi music, talking with her friends on the phone, enjoying an occasional nip of Frangelico or Crown Royal, and spending summers at the cabin in Show Low. She was a long-time member of Las Damas del Valle, a group of women dedicated to funding educational scholarships for needy children, as well as a member of the Elks, Superiorites, and El Groupo. The Memorial Service is scheduled for: Thursday August 10th. At 10:00 am at Queen of Peace Church 30 W. 1st. Street Mesa, AZ 85201 (search Evangelina Cruz at Legacy.com for updated information).
